WHAT ARE CHIN IMPLANTS?

Chin implant procedure is designed to shape, contour, and balance the face. The chin plays a vital role in overall facial harmony. A recessed chin can cause other facial features to appear overly large. Chin implants provide more definition along the jaw and upper neck region.

WHAT IS YOUR TREATMENT APPROACH TO CHIN IMPLANTS?

There are two approaches when placing a chin implant. The trans-oral technique and the submental approach:

  1. Trans-oral technique is an incision made inside the mouth to place the implant. As a result, there are no external scars visible.

  2. Submental approach is making a hidden incision under the chin.

The implant is typically silicone and flexible, and they do not leak or rupture. After the implant is placed, most patients do not feel the implant.

WHAT TYPE OF ANESTHESIA IS USED DURING PLACEMENT OF CHIN IMPLANTS?

Chin implants is an outpatient surgery and is performed under general anesthesia. The procedure take between one to two hours.

WHAT IS THE POST OPERATIVE CARE AND RECOVERY LIKE AFTER CHIN IMPLANTS?

Most patients recover quickly from chin implants and return to work within a few days. A follow up appointment is scheduled one week after surgery to monitor the heal process. Dissolving stitches are use and a mild pain reliever will be prescribed.

WHAT ARE THE RESULTS OF CHIN IMPLANTS?

Chin implants may be used to create more projection of the chin, elongate the chin, or both. They are used to create symmetry of facial features and enhance facial beauty.
