WHAT IS A MOMMY MAKEOVER

A mommy makeover is a group of procedures combined together to address excess skin and laxity that have developed over time.  They may involve a combination of abdominoplasty, liposuction, breast augmentation, mastopexy, breast reduction, and/or brachioplasty.  Mommy make overs are popular not only after pregnancy but also after significant weight loss.

WHAT IS YOUR TREATMENT APPROACH TO MOMMY MAKEOVER?

The type and order of procedures vary depending on personal goals.  Some may be particularly bothered by laxity that have developed along the breasts and abdomen after pregnancy.  As such, mastopexy and breast augmentation may be combined with abdominoplasty during the same procedure.

WHAT TYPE OF ANESTHESIA IS USED DURING MOMMY MAKEOVER?

Mommy makeovers are performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. The procedure can take between two to four hours, depending on the type of procedure performed.

WHAT IS THE POST OPERATIVE CARE AND RECOVERY LIKE AFTER MOMMY MAKEOVER?

Dr. Chen will prescribe you antibiotics to minimize the chance of post-operative infections and pain medications to improve comfort.  A compression garment will be worn to help your body adjust to its new contours.

Most patients take off two weeks from work, and more if they are expected to perform physical tasks on the job.

WHAT ARE THE RESULTS OF MOMMY MAKEOVER?

You will obtain a flatter abdomen, lifted breasts, or tighter arms, depending on the procedure you choose to pursue.

IS MOMMY MAKEOVER RIGHT FOR ME?

  • Candidates for mommy makeover may be those who have:

  • Developed sagging of breasts

  • Lost volume in breasts after breast-feeding

  • Developed extra skin or abdominal wall laxity/weakness after childbirth

  • Developed extra skin of the upper arms

  • Have excess fat of the abdomen, flanks, or back
